Advances in robot-assisted esophageal hiatal hernia repair

Abstract:

In recent years, Da Vinci Robotic surgery has been successfully applied to esophageal hiatal hernia repair. Some studies have shown that robotic-assisted esophageal hiatal hernia repair has the same safety and efficacy as traditional laparoscopic and open surgery, and has demonstrated the advantages of a more minimally invasive technique. However, its long-term benefits remain to be further investigated. In addition, as the application of the Da Vinci Robot becomes more popular and the volume of surgery increases, the grasp of surgical indications will become more accurate and surgical skills will continue to improve, and its unique technical advantages will certainly bring benefits to the majority of patients with esophageal hiatal hernia (HH) in China. Robotic HH repair is safe and feasible, with better recent results and obvious advantages in fine dissection, precise suturing and minimally invasive.
