Application value of esophageal manometry and 24 hours esophageal pH monitoring in the surgical GERD

Abstract:

Objective

To summarize the application value of the high resolution esophageal radiometry combined with esophageal 24 hours ph monitoring in the surgical diagnosis and treatment of GERD.

Methods

70 cases who have been in xinjiang auto region people's hospital during the period of January 2014 to December with symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease being suspected as gastroesophageal reflux disease by clinical examination took the inspection of high resolution esophageal manometry and esophageal 24 hours ph monitoring .

Results

In 70 cases, 50 patients with GERD(71.4), in which 32 cases(64%) diagnosed as hiatal hernia by the high resolution esophageal manometry, 18 cases(36%) without hiatal hernia .The other 20 cases(28.6) wasn′t diagnosed as GERD, in which 4 cases(20%) diagnosed as hiatal hernia by the high esophageal manometry, 16 cases(80%) without hiatal hernia.

Conclusion

Patients with GERD tend to have a hiatal hernia. High resolution esophageal manometry combined with esophageal 24 hours ph monitoring play a significant role in the diagnosis and the choice of surgical operation modus for the treatment of GERD.
