Study on the social support, coping style and personality characteristics of gastroesophageal reflux disease patients

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the personality, social support and coping style of gastroesophageal reflux disease patients, and to provide scientific theoretical basis for it′s psychological intervention.

Methods

Use to self-made general questionnaire, compared to eysenck personality questionnaire(EPQ), social support rating scale(SSRS), and simple coping style questionnaire(SCSQ)of 53 gastroesophageal reflux disease patients from minimally invasive surgery department, ent department, general department, cadre′s ward and other departments in the hospital of in the xinjiang uygur autonomous region people′s hospita from January 2015 to October 2015 and 52 Medical personnel as control group from xinjiang uygur autonomous region people′s hospita, then analyze the personalities, social support and coping style of gastroesophageal reflux disease patients.

Results

48 case of case group are valid, the effective rate is 90%.50 case of control group is valid, the effective rate is 96.1%.In the EPQ, neuroticism[(61.43±13.67)vs(50.40±10.20)]and Outgoing personality [(64.12±4.06)vs(58.76±7.21)]of the patients significantly highe than controls.Objective support [(8.58±4.18)vs(11.72±2.91)], utility [(5.58±1.95)vs(8.52±1.66)]and total social support score [(36.79±8.97)vs(45.24±6.85)]of the patients significantly lower than controls, (P<0.05).

Conclusion

The neurotic personality, outgoing personality, insufficient social support have obvious relationship with GERD.
