Research progress on surgical treatment of obese patients with gastroesophageal reflux diease

Abstract:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is significantly increased in obese people and is one of the obesity-related diseases. Recently, bariatric surgery is the best treatment for morbid obesity. However, not all bariatric surgery is suitable for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease. This article reviews the surgical treatment and development of obesity complicated with gastroesophageal reflux disease in recent years, including fundoplication, gastric banding, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, fundoplication with sleeve gastrectomy etc. The aim is to summarize the current situation in this field and provide a reference for patients with obesity and gastroesophageal reflux disease to seek better surgical methods, and provide possible directions for future research.
