Abstract:

Objective

To explore a systematic and stratified teaching system improvement strategy based on a survey of the specialized training needs of surgical residents for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and thereby enhance their comprehensive surgical treatment capabilities for GERD.

Methods

A questionnaire survey was conducted among 30 surgical residents to assess their specialized training needs for GERD, covering basic information, knowledge mastery, clinical practice, skill operation, and training demands. Based on the survey results, the teaching system was optimized from four dimensions: theoretical teaching, practical operation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and assessment feedback.

Results

The survey revealed that 46.67% (14/30) of the residents had a "generally familiar" level of knowledge about GERD surgical treatment, 53.33% (16/30) had not participated in related surgeries, and 63.33% (19/30) only had theoretical understanding of the key surgical steps. Regarding training demands, 66.67% (20/30) of the residents hoped to strengthen "basic disease theory and the latest progress" , and 63.33% (19/30) preferred "simulator hands-on training" .

Conclusion

The proposed improvement strategy for specialized GERD surgical resident training, based on the previous needs analysis, is clear in its objectives and highly targeted. It can effectively address the learning gaps and preferences of surgical residents, providing a reference model for specialized training in surgical subspecialties.
