The effect of gastroesophageal reflux on pulmonary function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of GERD with COPD patients pulmonary function.

Methods

There were admitted to Department of respiration and diagnosed asthma patients 358 cases who from April 2015 to September 2017 in the people′s hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to whether complicated with GERD were divided into GERD group and non GERD group, compared two groups of patients pulmonary function index.

Results

The incidence of GERD was 34.1%(122/358), the severity of COPD in GERD group were significantly higher than that in non GERD group, GERD group, forced expiratory volume in one second(Forced Expiratory Volume in one second FEV1, FVC, FEV1 /FVC% and PEF, FEF25%-75%)were significantly lower than those in non GERD group, and the difference There were statistical significance(P<0.05).

Conclusion

GERD is closely related to COPD, GERD affects lung function and disease severity in COPD patients, and the relationship between GERD and COPD and their mutual mechanism still need further study.
