Abstract:

Now a days the morbidity of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) has been greatly increased in China. GERD has many etiologies, and the pathogenesis are complex, yet the mechanisms of GERD has not been fully understood. Acid suppression treatment believed to be the best way of controlling the GERD, and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) is used for routine treatment of GERD, still there were patients showed poor curative effects. In recent years, many researchers began to pay attention to the the roles of inflammatory cytokines (ICs) and oxidative stress (OS) in the development of GERD and esophagul mucosa injury. ICs and OS may the potential targets for new drug development, which brings some hope to GERD patients with poor curative effect of acid suppressor use, and may also open new ways for diagnosis and treatment of GERD.

Key words: Gastroesophageal reflux disease, Inflammatory cytokines, Oxidative stress
