Investigation for gastroesophageal reflux disease of Urumqi

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) among healthy people in Urumqi.

Methods

A total of 5000 people who had been in the physical examination center of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were diagnosed by Gerd Q Scale (Gastroesophageal reflux disease Questionnaire) and questionnaires were conducted.

Results

A total of 5000 medical examination patients were collected and 5000 questionnaires were filled out in this survey, of which 4987 were clear and complete. Among 4987 respondents, 887 cases were diagnosed as gastroesophageal reflux disease, more males than females, GERD incidence in Uygur is higher than that of Han nationalyty. The incidence of GERD in big BMI was higher than that in normal. Psychological stress, anger, smoking, frequent satiety, difficulty in defecation, fast eating, sweets, strong tea and meat are risk factors for GERD.

Conclusion

The prevalence of GERD is 17.79%. Gender, nationality, BMI, smoking, psychological stress, anger and eating habits are the main risk factors for GERD in Urumqi.
