Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the efficacy of XuefuZhuyu Decoction plus esomeprazole enteric-coated tablets in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) with Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome.

Methods

Totally 62 patientswith GERD with Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome were randomly dividedinto two groups:control group (32 cases) and treatment group (30 cases).Patients in the control group were given esomeprazole enteric-coated tablets for 8 weeks, and patients in the treatment group were given both XuefuZhuyu Decoction and esomeprazole enteric-coated tablets for 8 weeks. Before and after treatment, the two groupswere scored using the Reflux Diagnostic Questionnaire (RDQ)and Diagnosis Scale for Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis Syndrometo evaluate the esophageal symptoms and Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome. The effective rateonthe esophageal symptoms and Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome were compared between two groups.

Results

There were no significant differences comparing the scores of RDQ (P>0.05) and Diagnosis Scale for Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis Syndrome (P>0.05). For esophageal symptoms, the effective rate was 86.2% in the treatment group, versus 58.1% in the control group; for Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome, the effective rate was 93.1% in the treatment group, versus 67.7% in the control group.

Conclusion

In comparison with esomeprazole enteric-coated tabletsonly, XuefuZhuyu Decoction plus esomeprazole enteric-coated tablets have better efficacy on GERD with Qi Stagnation and Blood Stasis syndrome.
