Effect of gastroesophageal reflux disease on lung function in patients with asthma

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the effect of gastroesophageal reflux disease on lung function in patients with asthma.

Methods

There were admitted to Department of respiration and diagnosed asthma patients 226 cases who from May 2015 to August 2017 in the people′s hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to whether complicated with GERD were divided into GERD group and non GERD group, compared two groups of patients with FEV1%, FVC% and FEV1/FVC% pulmonary function index.

Results

The incidence of GERD was 45.1%(102/226), GERD group of FEV1 %, FVC% and FEV1/FVC% were significantly lower than non GERD group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).

Conclusion

GERD is closely related with asthma, GERD has great influence on the pulmonary function of asthma patients, GERD and asthma is causal or accompanying relationship still need further study.
