Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect of family-centered nursing mode on children with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and bronchial asthma.

Methods

A total of fifty eight children with GERD combined with bronchial asthma in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Hospital from April 2016 to May 2017 were selected. All cases were randomly divided into experimental group (29 cases) and control group (29 cases). The control group was given a routine nursing mode, while the experimental group carried out a family-centered nursing mode. Then, the effect of that two different mode were compared.

Results

The day of disappearance of symptoms such as wheezing, cough and asthma and the day of discharge in the experimental group were significantly shorter than control group [(3.6 ± 1.5) d vs (5.8±2.2) d, t=4.579, P<0.001; (3.4±1.7) d vs (5.0±2.8) d, t=2.670, P=0.010; (4.0±0.9) vs (6.1±2.1) d, t=5.102, P<0.001; (5.0±2.2) d vs (9.0±3.5) d, t=5.226, P<0.001]. The satisfaction with nursing mode in experimental group was significantly higher than control group [93.1%(27/29) vs 72.4%(21/29), χ2=4.350, P=0.037]. Quality of life score of the experimental group in 1, 3, and 6 months after discharge were significantly higher than control group [(70.3 ± 5.5) scores vs (60.1 ± 4.8) scores, (82.1 ± 4.9) scores vs (71.3 ± 3.8) scores, (90.1 ± 3.7) scores vs (79.8 ± 4.2) scores; t=7.563, 9.457, 9.814, all P<0.001] respectively.

Conclusion

The family-centered nursing mode can significantly improves the treating efficacy in children who suffering GERD and bronchial asthma, by shortening the symptom disappear time and improving the quality of life.
